Windows 11: Sorting through the data

Image
Earlier this year Microsoft announced Windows 11 a complete redesign of the windows environment with enhanced security. This was surprising as Windows 10 was supposed to be the last windows ever and we were just supposed to see updates to this version of the OS. Microsoft has made it clear with products like Microsoft 365 to make windows more like a service rather than just an operating system.  " "Right now we’re releasing Windows 10, and because  Windows 10  is the last version of Windows, we’re all still working on Windows 10." That was the message from Microsoft employee Jerry Nixon, a developer evangelist  speaking at the company's Ignite conference  this week." (Warren, 2015)  Some of the big highlights include  -Removal of the live tiles from the start menu  -Relocation of the taskbar icons to be more centered (similar to what you see in MacOS and many Linux distros)  -Integration of Microsoft Teams (Like they previously did with...

Logitech Combo Touch IPad keyboard case review

Image
Making the most of my iPad Pro Recently I decided to look into something more portable than my work laptop, but still with the features and processor power to get a lot of what I wanted done. What I landed on is the new iPad Pro combined with the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard case. You can read more about my thoughts on the iPad Pro in another post, today I want to focus on my experience with the keyboard case that is currently retailing for $199.99. Please note I purchased the iPads and the cases myself and these were not provided by any company for the purpose of a review. In this post, I want to talk about the accessory that has changed the way I use my iPad completely and was a significant upgrade over my old Apple Smart Keyboard folio I used with my IPad Air 2020 as shown below. The Apple folio case was slightly cheaper at a retail price of $179.00 available on Apple’s website here. The Smart Keyboard folio is great for light typing and emphasizes portability over typi...

Doing Life Better part 2: Continuing Education

Hello Everyone,  This is a continuation of my last post on how I am doing things better (in my opinion) to live a little better. One of the things I started doing last year and continue through this year is going back to school to get a higher degree. I think this may be somewhat of a controversial  topic as a degree isn't always necessary to get a better job, make a decent salary, and can't outweigh a persons skills and work experience but I feel like it makes opening doors easier and is something to leverage into higher positions. I have been working professionally for some time now and have been fortunate enough to rise into management and make a decent salary with an associates degree. But throughout my journey despite me being very good at what I do managers have constantly told me.  Finish your BS degree. Getting a degree will help you go further. You should get paid more with a BS degree over an AS.   Now for me it was hard to immediately jump to a ...

Doing life better part 1: Investing

Image
Hey Everyone,  It's been a long time since I've posted anything as I wanted to focus on some changes that were going on in my life. So for 2020 I have been learning new skills, getting better saving habits, investing, and cycling. In this first post, I want to dive into my investing habits for the year and some resources I have been really getting a lot out of. *A disclaimer I am not a financial advisor of any sort and anything I say you may choose to listen to at your sole discretion.  1. 401 K savings     I am sure most people at this point are familiar with taking part of their paycheck and moving it into their savings. But this year I decided to move an additional 3% into my 401k as I have been making pretty decent growth over 12% a year on the money that has been building in my account.  2. ROTH IRA     This is something some people agree with and others do not. But I feel like why not take advantage of an extra $6000 / year you can put away to co...

Free Satoshi from your cell phone

Hey Everyone, As we all know we are currently in the great graphics card shortage 2017 due to crypto currency mining. So I decided to take this opportunity to learn more about mining devices, currencies, etc. I have also been doing a bit of bitcoin mining myself with my server and gaming PC. Mind you these are single GPU machines with low powered cards so making ~$1 a day is the best I can hope for at the moment. But the point of this article is not hardware mining but getting paid satoshi for watch quick 5 second ads a couple times a day on your smart phone. But what is satoshi you ask? "The  satoshi  is currently the smallest unit of the bitcoin currency recorded on the block chain. It is a one hundred millionth of a single bitcoin (0.00000001 BTC). The unit has been named in collective homage to the original creator of Bitcoin,  Satoshi Nakamoto. -Bitcoin.it" So you are not going to get rich doing this by any means but if you are trying to accumulate some bit c...

Hyper 212 Evo Review

Hey Everyone! So I know this cooler has been out for awhile and there is even an updated version. But I was looking for a bargain and wanted to see if this cooler lived up to the hype of the last few years. So first off the system this was installed into. Case: Fractal Design Mini C with window side panel PSU: EVGA 450 B Bronze rated CPU: i5-4670k overclocked to 4.0ghz GPU: RX 460 Sapphire Nitro 4GB 16GB of RAM with heat spreaders (2x team vulcan, 2x G.Skill) Motherboard: MSI-B85-E45 Case fans: 1 intake, 1 exhaust, I have to give it to Cooler Master they make sure you know what you are getting before you even open the box. The picture is accurate for assembly and color of what you can expect. It came with thermal paste and all the necessary hardware to attach it to a variety of sockets. I did not see anything for AM4 support included but I am sure you can ask customer service and they can provide another bracket.               ...
